I absolutely love this book. 11 Birthdays teaches readers that fighting is not a way to solve differences and hurts the people around you.
"But they were always in competition with each other. One year Ellerby flooded Fitzpatrick's fields, ruining the harvest for everyone"
(Mass 179). Amanda is my favorite character because I really relate to her. My older sister seems absolutely perfect, when she thinks she isn't. "Amanda doesn't know how lucky she is, only being eleven"
(Mass 78). I have a rivalry with one of my best friend's friends. "She doesn't even glance my way and takes a seat in the second row" (Mass 28). Also I sympathize for others, no matter how mean they are. "Sorry, Bee Boy, I tried" (Mass 187). I think the book is as entertaining as it is hiddenly educational. I would recommend it to all of my classmates because I know how easily friendships are ruined at our age. This book can help mend them.
